Guidelines for Exhibiting Artists
To ensure the professional presentation of all works, please adhere to the following requirements:
All submissions must be original, not copies or reproductions of other works.
-
Works must be professionally mounted. Works on paper should be ready to hang, either framed or unframed, with mounting board at least 150gsm for unframed works. Glass or plexiglass must be clean and scratch-free, and mat boards should be clean and smoothly cut.
-
Canvas works must be presented on stretcher arms or framed, with frames in good condition. The back of the frame should be sealed with framer’s tape. Plastic frames are not accepted as they cannot accommodate D rings.
-
Attach D rings of at least 5mm diameter one fifth from the top of the frame, with the D curve pointing upwards. Attach hanging wire firmly through the D rings. String and eyehooks are not permitted.
-
Works lacking the required D rings will be deemed unsuitable for hanging. Artists may be asked to attach D rings (available for $2 a pair from ArtSpace).
-
Prints must be limited editions of no more than 15. Prints must be original hand pulled prints. No digital reproductions, accept in cards or calendars. Photographs must be printed on archival paper with archival inks, also limited to 15 editions, and not printed on canvas.
-
Works must be completely dry at submission. Charcoal or pastel works must be fixed for conservation.
-
3D works can be displayed on available plinths. Artists should provide stable stands or holders for special displays and must assist with installation if works are heavy or cumbersome.
-
Label all entries on the back with the artist’s name, artwork title, dimensions and medium. Attaching a card with your details for self-promotion is encouraged.
-
Works for exhibitions must be delivered to ArtSpace no later than the Sunday before the bump-in. Late submissions cannot be accepted. Display decisions, placement, and position are at the discretion of the curatorial team. Any specific requests should be included with your submission and will be considered. Fees will be refunded if your work cannot be accepted for any reason.
-
Gift Shop items may be delivered at any time. New items will typically be displayed each Monday unless replacing a sold item on a like-for-like basis. Display decisions are subject to available space and at the discretion of the curatorial team.
The curatorial team carefully considers the overall arrangement of each exhibition.
