With my back to the ocean I sit at the low tide mark and consider the shoreline from this rarely contemplated position; the play of light and shadow amongst the tea tree, the sound of ocean, bird and foot-traffic, the smell of weed, the taste of solitude. I began mapping the edge of the island during the pandemic, exploring refuge and sacred-space.
