Black Swans on Churchill Island Wetlands
2026
gouache on arches paper
37x 28cm
Completed within weeks of each other during winter 2026, these three en plein air gouache paintings respond to Phillip Island’s (Milowl) shifting light, restless weather, and coastal birdlife. Through observations of pelicans and black swans, the works trace the close relationship between birdlife, place, and seasonal change as H5 bird flu threatens the island’s diverse species.
